How do I connect my i pod to my stereo?

I have an old Sony stereo speakers attatched to it Can I connect my ipod video to it so that the music that comes on the speakers? Do you need some sort of cable? which has an output of microphone. I need an adapter? And if I do where I get one?

Hello. My sister has this cassette tape and has a wire coming out of it and can connect to the microphone jack on the iPod and then just put the tape in stereo.I always have an iPod and use it. You could probably buy one at a Wal Mart, Best Buy, Radio Shack or even where they sell electronic stuff on.
